Itinerary

Day 1: Middle Atlas Mountains – Ifrane – Azrou – Erg Chebbi Dunes

Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Fes, setting off into the stunning Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is the picturesque town of Ifrane, often called “Morocco’s Switzerland” for its Alpine-style architecture and scenic charm. In winter, the town is blanketed in snow, and a nearby ski resort adds a seasonal delight.

Next, you will travel through the sprawling cedar forests near the Berber village of Azrou, where the famous Barbary macaque monkeys roam freely. Watch these playful creatures in their natural habitat as you continue through forested peaks, twisting mountain streams, and dramatic rocky cliffs.

The road eventually brings you to Rissani, a historic town on the edge of the Sahara. Continuing south, the vast Erg Chebbi dunes rise unexpectedly, creating an awe-inspiring desert panorama. Here, you will embark on a 90-minute camel trek across the golden sands, arriving at a traditional Berber desert encampment just in time to enjoy a spectacular sunset. The evening is

spent dining under the stars, accompanied by traditional Berber music, and resting in your desert tent surrounded by the tranquil dunes.

Day 2: Sahara Desert – Todra Gorges – Skoura – Ouarzazate

Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before riding your camel back to the edge of the desert for breakfast. The desert’s shifting sands and ever-changing shadows create unforgettable photo opportunities during the morning light.

After breakfast, journey west toward Ouarzazate, passing through the breathtaking Todra Gorges, a canyon carved deep into the eastern High Atlas Mountains. Here, you can take a short hike along the river and admire the towering cliffs and narrow passageways of the gorge.

Your route continues through the Valley of Roses, stopping in Kelaat Mgouna, a charming Berber town known for its fragrant rose products and annual Festival of Roses. Next, traverse the palm groves of Skoura, framed by the majestic Atlas Mountains, before reaching Ouarzazate in the evening, where you enjoy dinner and a restful night.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, explore the fascinating film studios of Ouarzazate, where some of Africa’s most famous films and television series have been shot. You may also visit the studio museum to see iconic props and costumes from productions like Gladiator and other blockbuster movies.

Next, venture to the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its traditional mud-brick architecture. Wander through the narrow alleys of this iconic village and soak in the stunning views of the surrounding river valleys and palmeries.

Your journey continues across the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, passing charming Berber villages and cascading waterfalls. The tour concludes upon arrival in Marrakech, where your adventure ends at your hotel or riad, leaving you with lasting memories of the Sahara and Atlas landscapes.
